General rules of care after implantation
Danich Michael Igorovich
After implantation, it is important to follow specific oral care recommendations to help ensure a successful recovery and optimal treatment. Features of care after implantation include several important aspects that should be considered - especially hygiene and nutrition.
The main requirement after implantation is to reduce the pressure on the implants (as much as possible) in the first 3-4 days. Because the implant needs time to heal, loading it up can cause inflammation. For the same reason, it is necessary to chew food on the other side of the dentition, where there are no seams.
An important aspect is proper nutrition during the first 3-4 days. Please note that eating in the first 3 hours after implantation is strictly prohibited! After 3 hours, you can eat soft and warm food - for example, warm soups or yogurts.
For three days it is forbidden to eat solid products, too hot and cold food and drinks, it is also better to refuse spicy and sour.
In order not avoid unnecessary discomfort, it is forbidden to smoke and drink alcohol, as it dilates blood vessels and can cause bleeding in the implantation area.
Keep your diet varied - make sure the foods you consume contain all the essential nutrients, especially calcium. This will promote faster healing of the implant site.
It is not advisable to drink coffee and black tea, it is better to give preference to herbal tea or fruit compote. And most importantly - drink more water, ideally 1.5-2 liters per day!
Hygiene practices after implantation, especially in the context of dental implants, are important to ensure successful recovery and long-term implant stability. Proper hygiene promotes healing, prevents infections, preserves nearby teeth, and ensures long-term stability of implants. Here are some key tips to help keep your implant and your teeth healthy:
- Do not touch the area of stitches and installed implants with your hands or tongue.
- For the first 3-4 days, limit yourself to oral baths (simply keep the water in your mouth), after which you can do gentle rinses.
- On the 3-5th day, that is, after the reduction of the inflammatory process and edema, it is necessary to start using a toothbrush. It is recommended to choose a brush with soft or ultra soft hardness, so as not to damage the ash fabrics and the suture area.
- Starting from 2-3 weeks after the installation of implants, after each meal, use the irrigator (for starters - at 1-2 speeds, that is, minimally), then rinse your mouth with water or an antibacterial rinse.
Remember that proper nutrition and hygiene contribute to maintaining optimal conditions around the implant.
